If there is one thing anyone should know about me it's my appreciation for people. It is why I enjoy theater. It's also why when I meet someone I like, I try to support the good they put into the world.

Quinn Roberts is the owner of Theater West End, Sanford's newest gem for live performance. After seeing an SOS type of message come across my Facebook feed asking for volunteers, I headed out to assist in whatever capacity I could. (Sidebar, the pipe looking light fixtures in the entrance, I helped put those together. #HandyMan) Quinn gave me a tour of the theater and the rehearsal space. He seemed calm and cool despite the enormous amount of work that still lay ahead of him before the theater opened its doors. What struck me was the brilliant choice for his first show. To open the inaugural season with The Color Purple in the heart of a city scarred by tragedy was nothing less than a bold statement. Quinn and business partner Derek Critzer were going to come out swinging. Yep, I liked these guys.

Since its opening in late summer of 2018, this theater has shown no signs of slowing down. Theater West End is working hard to bring new energy into the Central Florida live performance community by producing shows no theater in the area has even touched as well as breathing fresh life into classic productions we all know and love (and some of us were tired of but now we're not cause of said energy.)

Theater West End has also included limited engagement concerts with local performers, a cabaret show and Let's Get Real, a monthly improv show featuring indie Florida improvisers.

Last, and certainly most important to me is the education department at Theater West End which teaches children grades 2-8 known as Rising Stars, as well as high school students for Musical Theater Intensive which culminates in a weekend of shows. The education department includes local musical theater professionals dedicated to building strong performers and creating a safe environment for young performers to grow.

Thank you Quinn for being a genuinely kind human being. I look forward to watching your theater continue to set the standard for live productions in our community.
